For the Acne Studios Spring Summer 2013 Capsule Collection, the artist Cecil Beaton and a vintage cover of American Vogue from 1931 by the artist Eduardo García Benito were the inspiration for the all over print looks.

Cecil Beaton, an English fashion and portrait photographer, diarist, painter, interior designer, and award-winning costume designer was used as inspiration for the capsule collection’s chalk print. The print was created in the spirit of the rough graphite drawings found in Beaton’s sketchbooks.

Eduardo García Benito, a master of illustration during the Art Deco period, was one of Vogue and Vanity Fair’s most important artists. Benito’s signature style, the ‘Big Head’, captures the look and spirit of Art Deco. His illustrations of fashionable women, reduced down to a few strokes of the pen, often feature long necks topped with heads resembling African figure sculptures.
