“When we decided to do a show in London I wanted to do something English, and there is so much to England, but I amSwedish, and for me Kensington Palace is part of how I think
of England. When we approached the palace they mentioned that Lord Snowdon and Princess Margaret’s former apartment may be available. I always wanted to do an apartment show, I love this mix of salon and show and I have always loved Lord Snowdon – so somehow it seemed like the talent of Central Saint Martins combined with Lord Snowdon’s classic Englishness was the perfect mix of uptown and downtown that we at ACNE have always loved.
For SS 11, the general idea from the start was to work with recent aesthetic history as an inspiration. I love somethingso in people’s design consciousness like tattoos and to work with it and do a modern interpretation of the familiar wasvery interesting. Taking something which is fashionable right now and using it as a springboard for something new – thatseemed like something exciting.”
