tmospheres, moving back and forth between seventies accents and decisive touches of eighties-style sensuality. Like the two faces and souls of the same world, these little masterpieces express subtle elegance and reveal surprising hidden details that will astound you with every step.
The daywear segment of this collection is inspired by the seventies. The wedge shoe with wooden heel is back, and so are amazing high-heeled slides and the platform shoe with a small buckle for a day look. Their designs are lightened through the use of natural materials such as wood, raffia, and canvas paired up with leather and presented in a subtle palette of neutral shades that includes all the nuances of leather and beige with an unusual touch of pumice and off-white.
Sandals and tapered pumps feature sleek shapes and express subtle sensuality. Extremely light and with thin soles, they are the more elegant segment of the collection. Their simple, ethereal designs rise like spirals through the use of geometric bands and crisscross elements or they create peek-a-boo effects with Plexiglas inserts. Precious materials such as satin and black or rock python are used for such precious designs and are accompanied with splashes of red, purple, and bougainvillea fuchsia. The creative world of Gianvito Rossi continues to grow yet it always remains true to itself. The next spring-summer collection, in fact, will add its first woman’s sneaker, which is a development of the men’s shoe shown in June. A new bandoleer bag, which will be presented in season shades of white, biscuit, and black python, will join all-season items such as the iconic briefcase, which was launched during the fall-winter 2010-11 collection (and is also available in a medium size this season), and twoelegant clutches.
Product development goes hand in hand with brand expansion and the label’s foray into the direct retail channel. A 30 square meter corner shop was inaugurated on September 18 in the new footwear department on the third floor of the La Rinascente department store on Piazza Duomo in Milan. This project is part of the fashion house’s development strategy and follows the format already tested in Paris with a corner shop in the Galeries Lafayette department store. “I’m excited about this new opening, which will allow the Gianvito Rossi collection to be sold in one of Italy’s most important department stores and to gain even more international visibility,” said the designer. Today the brandhas two boutiques: one on Via Santo Spirito in Milan and the other on Rue du Mont Thabor in Paris.
