Next year’s spring-summer collection from Vicini Uomo makes play with the contrasts – and the progressive merging – between classic and sporting styles. Shapes and materials “borrowed” from old-style gym-shoes are reinterpreted in a freshly upbeat mood as ‘carry-over models’. The outcome is a well balanced marriage between tradition and innovation, and between comfort and elegance.



Natural colors dominate, in all their many variants: khaki, dark brown, sand… a whole panorama of neutral tones, occasionally interspersed with sudden flashes of yellow, red, or orange, and with laser or metallic finishes. The aging-effect used on sneakers is just one example, where the vintage atmosphere spreads from the uppers through various details and on to the midsoles, the outsoles and the laces.



Metropolitan style takes another step, in search of comfort and versatility. Shapes lose their structures, their linings and their reinforcements, come with soft soles in leather or rubber, frequently adorned with matching or contrasting seams and stitching. The materials range from Nabuk to suede and from nappa leather to canvas.



The classic yachting shoe is revisited in a decidedly innovative manner: plaited cord outsoles and bright warm colors bring new vitality to a traditional model par excellence.
