The Tapeet 2011 Spring-Summer collection renews the focus on comfort and femininity that has always distinguished this brand. Youthful models, surprising matches, and original f
inishes: three features that are part of a bridge-line whose vision of the next summery season is shaped by opaque and natural colors and materials. Washed canvas and goatskin, soft suede, interwoven satin and python prints all alternate cleverly throughout the collection.
Sandals and ultra-flat ballerinas go side by side with wedge shoes. Strikingly enough, heels are practically non-existent, replaced by dense and solid soles. Glamorous wooden clogs in pure 1970s style. Softly rounded curves and padded insoles compensate the hardness of the material. Studs relinquish their functional roles for adornment where the uppers in leather, glitter or velour are attached directly and visibly to the wooden midsoles.
But once again, what really catch the eye are the outsoles. The single forms in micro-porous material, covered by brightly colored uppers evoke the 1990s. An evenly balanced contrast that lends visual impact to the homogeneous black or smoky grey midsoles, as in an interplay of fullness and void. A cruise ship atmosphere dominates the super-flat line with pleated cord outsoles and soft insoles in Nabuk or canvas. Meanwhile, the open toe sneakers in satin or canvas playfully evoke gym classes: leather under-soles and laces in contrasting colors reinterpret this ultra-sporty shoe in a city chic mood.
A consistently trendy brand, Tapeet’s collections remain deeply popular both among its faithfully affectionate clients and among celebrities.
