For his Fall/Winter 2011 Collection, Jason was inspired by the beautiful photos taken by Robert Polidori in his book “Parcours Museologique Revister”, which documented the d
etailed restoration process of Versailles over a period of 25 years. The theme of contrast runs through the photos and the collection.
The juxtaposition between the rough undersurface revealed during renovation and the opulence of the décor inspired a mixture of luxuriously embellished fabrics with Jason’s signature American sportswear elements. The Baroque meets sportswear theme presented itself in “garcon” elements including sharp tailored pants, ascot shirts, charcoal flannel coats and accents include colorful embroidered Swarovski Elements, burned out feathers and lace detailing. The restrained black, white and nude color palette of the collection is highlighted by shots of bold colors including cerise pink, chartreuse, ultra violet and antique gold.
For evening Jason played with dissecting classic materials, from whimsically scattered colorful jewel embroideries on coats, dresses, skirts and blouses to delicately falling leaf motif lace embroidered onto day and evening pieces.
The collection features over fifteen types of laces shown on many looks from a gilded lace gown with black and white “gear” palettes, trimmed anoraks, embroidered on blouses, skirts and dresses. He took classic couture shapes and sculpted them to create controlled volume in sportswear and eveningwear. The sculpted lace masks create an air of mystery and a touch of extravagance.
The opulent detailing carries over into accessories including a grey flannel clutch embroidered with Swarovski Elements, gold edged Versailles and Baroque clutches and a leather envelope clutch. Jewel-tone satin clutches are shown in royal blue, Bordeaux and teal. The heels of pumps are gold dipped, proving the back is as important as the front of the shoe. A new shoulder clutch, a Doctor’s Bag and a cross body tote shown in ivory and Bordeaux leather. The Miss Wu bag turns up in new colors including a high shine mauve leather and Bordeaux.
