THOMAS WYLDE gives homage to this exquisite destination by naming each style after Cubaninspired traditional clothing. Ruffles had an immense influence in this Cuban era. A perfectexample is the voile fabric “Chivato” blouse with ruffled sleeves and Swarovski crystal buttons.Other highly influenced pieces are the light organza tops “Bolsa Negra”, ruffled around the collar,“Bisnero” blouse that is adorned with Swarovski crystal buttons. The poncho “Ponchovera” , isaligned with ruffles along the edges, looking effortlessly flawless on top of “Shot Through TheHeart”, def leopard print swimwear.This season THOMAS WYDLE coalesces traditional Cuba with modernity. Cuban music wasrich in culture and is known for its expression and rhythmic beats. The cha-cha-cha dance is aderivation of the rumba. THOMAS WYLDE has created its version of this legendary rumba.“ Cha Cha” dress with its customary tail and ruffled trim guarantees a night of glamour anddancing.
Yet being able to maintain and stay true to the THOMAS WYLDE brand. The “Bay of the Pigs”invasion, in 1961 caused the Cuban Revolution lead by Fidel Castro, was also a reflection of thecollection. Spring/Summer ‘s 2011 color scheme runs parallel to the battle theme that thecollection was inspired by; Blood, Death, Ash, and Life. Creative Director, Paula Thomas alwaysfinds beauty and relevance in the most untapped and abnormal objects to human eye. The defleopard pattern used in various styles this season is the epitome of this vision. “Gunslinger”dress is fabricated with def leopard print adding an open back while draping the fabric to addmagnitude.
“Cuba Libre” collection takes the THOMAS WYLDE woman in an odyssey of discovery. The“Peso” silk chiffon dress brushes against the revolutionary’s flesh during those long summernights out in Havana. The tuxedo jacket is revamped with intricately placed crystals on the arms,“Guapo” jacket. “Gringo” sleeveless tuxedo jacket is a fresh take on this classic look. THOMASWYLDE woman personifies the free spirit of a revolutionist. Paula Thomas captures the trueessence of the free sprit by using the finest fabrics. This season silks, leather, wool, organza, andfine cashmere give every woman’s body the freedom desired but still exuding sex appeal.
THOMAS WYLDE dress collection is amplified this season. Carnal Knowledge, a bow boarderprint accents some of the dresses for the collection. “Linda” silk chiffon dress exemplifies thisbow print, with off the shoulder long sleeves. The “Permiso” dress elaborately decorated with oneshoulder ruffle gliding softly all the way down to the mid section. This dress is a sure to turnheads. Designs such as the “Hola” dress with a four layered cap sleeve and an engraved hennaskull belt add a modern twist mixed with a traditional silhouette.
Leather pieces modernize this collection by mixing fabrics. “Delgado” dress fitted to perfectionwith a removable long sleeve and finished with nylon stretch mesh. “Chulo” skirt is detailed withnylon stretch mesh along the sides evolving THOMAS WYLDE’s timeless pencil skirt.Motorcycle jackets are taken to another level, contouring the “Baro” jacket to fit perfectly anddetailed with zippers on the sleeves. Pants are kept low-rise with 3 zippered back pockets andzippers up to the lower calf. All leather is available in Death and Ash colors.Fine cashmere is precise for the Spring/Summer 2011 season. The silhouettes drape yet soeloquently with great comfort but keeping the THOMAS WYLDE elegance. “Consorte”cardigan stands out on its own with its length and engraved henna skull belt, detailed with acrystallized def leopard back. The hoodie cashmere piece keeps the contemporary THOMASWYLDE woman chic and young. Crystallizing def leopard print on the hoodie contrasts and addsedge to the soft cashmere fabric.
Caftans are huge for the Spring/Summer season and THOMAS WYLDE hits it on the mark.These are splendid for those casual days in a resort overlooking the ocean. “Carne” caftan isdecorated with the def leopard print. “Padrino” caftan is crafted perfectly and belted with a crocoembossed cow nubuck belt. “Pipo” is fabricated with 100% silk chiffon for those breezy days inthe beach.
